“I learned that I have ‘American eyes.’ I see the world through my perceptions as an American. And ‘one’s eyes are blind to what the mind does not know.’ One needs to learn about other cultures and how they perceive their worlds. I learned many of my personal and ‘American’ prejudices. USSEA and InSEA taught me I need to ‘see’ beyond my ‘American eyes,’ if I wish to learn to begin to understand other cultures and people. I believe one learns most by doing, i.e., by traveling in other countries and being a part of other cultures.“
