2016 (Fall) – My Art Education Journey
“My journey theme is focused on visual literacy and equity– or access to visual literacy skills (what I would later call Visual Fitness 4 All). To be visual literate is a birthright. Probably no one listening has this issue, but the most people outside are not necessarily visually aware. So that is why so many of us, so many of the students that are here, are concerned with educating all people. I am very concerned with the criticality of deep engagement in exploration and discovery for creativity and insight. I will be talking about are FOCUS and balanced seeing. More and more in our ever-distracting world, focus and balancing seeing is more important than ever. Another area I am concerned about is ACCESS to universal visual expression. Everyone is entitled to be able to visually express, whether they realize it or not. We are living in an extremely visual world. Finally, I am very concerned about COMMUNITY reflected in shared vision.”
